Zaria Mosque Tragedy: Kaduna Assembly Urges Govt To Provide Relief Materials To Victims

Kaduna State House of Assembly has called on Government to provide relief materials to the Zaria Mosque victims.
The call was contained in a motion treated as matter of urgent public importance read by member representing Zaria City constituency, Mahmud Lawal Ismaila.
Mahmud said the motion was raised in pursuant to order 8 rule 4 of the standing order and rules of the house.
He said the tragic event which happened on Friday 11th day of August had claimed the lives 10 people living more than 30 injured who are receiving medical attention at ABU Zaria Teaching Hospital and Gambo Sawaba General Hospital Zaria.
Describing the incident, Mahmud said part of the roof of the Zaria Juma’at Mosque situated at Fada opposite the Emir’s palace collapsed and the above mentioned number of persons were affected.
Adding, while the state is mourning the above mentioned incident, another sad event of attack by bandits occurred at Gadar Gaya, Zaria which resulted to the death of two people and two others kidnapped.
“Hence our call to the state government to through its State Emergency Management Agency SEMA provide relief materials to the affected victims.
Earlier, Governor Uba Sani Donated 15 Million Naira to the Victims of Collapsed Zaria Mosque
Yesterday, the Governor of Kaduna State, Senator Uba Sani, paid a condolence visit to His Highness, the Emir of Zazzau, Ambassador Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli over last Friday’s collapse of a section of Zaria Central Mosque on worshippers observing Asr Prayers which resulted in the loss of lives.
The Governor prayed for the repose of the souls of the deceased and the speedy recovery of the injured worshippers donated 1 million Naira to each of the families of the eight individuals who tragically lost their lives.
Similarly, 500 thousand naira each will be provided to the injured worshippers who are currently undergoing treatment in hospitals.
Finally, the sum of N200k each will be given to the injured receiving care at home. In total, the Governor donated 15 million Naira to the victims.
