Yobe Assembly Speaker, Mirwa, Loses Seat To PDP

The Speaker of the Yobe State House of Assembly, Hon. Lawan Ahmed mirwa, has lost his of Nguru II constituency seat to the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the just-concluded Governorship and State Assembly elections held on Saturday.

A young 35 years old candidate of the PDP, Hon. Musa Lawan Majakura, won the Saturday’s election for Pengana State constituency seat.

Musa Lawan scored 6,648 votes to defeat his closest rival, Rt. Hon. Lawan Ahmed Mirwa of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who scored 6,466 votes.

The returning officer Dr Habib Muhammad, for the election consequently declared Hon. Musa Lawan as the winner of the election having scored the highest number of lawful votes cast.

Dr Muhammad said ADC scores 30 votes while ANPP and APM scored 23 and 14 votes respectively.

Citypost.ng recall that Hon Mirwa has been winning the Nguru II constituency since 2003 making him one of the longest serving members in the Yobe State House of Assembly.
