Former Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, has voiced his apprehension regarding the 19-count charge filed against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Bello, represented by his legal team, conveyed his readiness to appear before the Federal High Court in Abuja to address the charges.

During a recent court session, Adeola Adedipe, SAN, a member of Bello’s legal team, informed the court of Bello’s desire to attend the proceedings but expressed concern over a pending arrest order.

Adedipe urged the court to revoke the ex parte arrest order against Bello, arguing that the charges had not been officially served to his client as required by law at the time the arrest order was issued.

The court approved the service of the charges to the defendant through his lawyer during the Tuesday session. Adedipe emphasized that Bello wishes to comply with the legal process but is fearful of the arrest order hanging over him.

He further contended that the arrest order should be set aside since the substituted service of the charge was only approved during the recent proceedings.

Bello’s legal team is actively working to ensure that proper legal procedures are followed and to address the concerns surrounding the arrest order as they navigate the legal proceedings
