Police in Borno State have apprehended a 40-year-old woman, Lydia Aji, for allegedly killing her husband with an axe.

According to Commissioner of Police Yusufu Lawal, who provided the details through the command’s spokesman, Mr.

Nahum Kenneth, the fatal altercation was triggered by a dispute over their 13-year-old daughter Rachael’s alleged theft of a goat.

The violent attack led to the immediate death of Lydia Aji’s husband. “On July 4, 2024, Bulama Mulikabu from Kautikari village in Chibok Local Government Area reported at the Chibok police station that on the same date, Lydia Aji and her husband Aji Makinta engaged in a violent confrontation.

During the altercation, Lydia Aji struck her husband on the head with an axe, resulting in his instant death,” the police spokesman said.

Lawal further explained that the conflict began after Aji Makinta discovered that their daughter had stolen and sold a goat. This revelation led him to demand that Lydia and their daughter leave his home.

The police investigation into the incident is ongoing as authorities seek to gather more details about the tragic event.
