In a symbolic move to celebrate the anniversary of Nigeria’s uninterrupted democracy, Barrister Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, has unveiled the name “Bola Ahmed Tinubu Way” for the newly completed Southern Parkway Road in Abuja.

This announcement came during the commissioning ceremony of the project, which was initiated in 2012 under the administration of President Goodluck Jonathan.

During the event, Mr Tinubu hailed Minister Wike for his transformative efforts in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), describing his vision as revolutionary and inspiring.

Tinubu expressed his administration’s support for Wike’s initiatives, stating:

“I will not say that I am surprised.

Barrister Nyesom Wike, Mr. Project, thank you for giving us this home and for your sincere commitment to shared values. Well done; as a team leader, you work so hard, tirelessly.”

He highlighted the importance of the road in easing traffic congestion, enhancing mobility, and promoting economic growth and national unity.

Also, Wike expressed his gratitude to Mr Tinubu, stressing the administration’s support in completing long-standing projects in the FCT.

He described the Southern Parkway as a crucial element of the Abuja Master Plan, aimed at providing access and connectivity to the city’s southern development flank.

“The Southern Parkway is one of the principal arteries conceived and planned as a freeway to provide access and connectivity to the southern development flank of the city as provided in the Abuja Master Plan,” Wike stated.
