The woman leader leader of the National Association of Nigerian Traders (NANTs), Chief (Mrs) Rachael Adewumi explained why she begged the FCT minister to provide alternatives for the women who are doing businesses in undesignated places.

Chief (Mrs) Rachael Adewumi made the appeal to the minister recently at an interface with journalists in Abuja.

Recall that the Minister recently disclosed his plans to return the FCT to its original master plan, which if done would affect those making a living in undesignated areas, both in the markets and other areas in Abuja.

While sending her messages across, the woman leader begged the minister, to as a matter of importance, ensure that there be alternative for the women and those who have been doing businesses of buying and selling in areas that were not designated for such in the markets, streets, among other areas within the FCT.

She advised the minister to use his office to ensure that such women and other traders of that category are not discouraged, while performing his lawful duties.

Chief(Mrs) Rachael Adewumi therefore suggested involvement of the women in the planning, building and sharing of any market marked out for that purpose stating that involvement of the stakeholders, or even, those NGOs that have been empowering women in the planning, building and sharing of any market space as it would reduce the use of undesignated places for such purpose.
