We Are Naturally Combustible
By Dr jarlath Uche Opara
The spirit of a man is naturally created to be highly inflammable. Designed to be set ablaze, burning with the glow of an ember, constantly bellowed by the auction of the Holy Spirit.
It takes a dry throat to gulp down water with the hunger beyond description, seeking for it not minding the distance, the challenges and risks on the road to its access.
The soul of a man is meant to live fresh and greenish, blossoming in a refreshing atmosphere of God’s presence but dried and caked in seeking him, in him there is no guile and blemish. It is like a plant growing by leaps and bounds, bearing daily godly fruits, providing shelter, whose roots are so dry and yearning, the need of a living water to keep the plant growing and productive, very insatiable, constantly seeking for more no matter the overflow of the streams of the living water.
No soul that would survive the wiles of this challenging world would feel satisfied drinking from the living water that flows from God.
Hunger is a plus in the realm of the spirit. One must forever be pining for it, seeking for it with an unquenchable desire, saying to oneself “I need more of you”.
It is this cry of “I need more of you” that is an antidote to temptation, to the yielding of human weakness, to falling to the inducing and inticing baits of Satan. Until a soul reaches to this depth of living and operating in the realm of seeking more of God’s presence and auction, that soul would still be within the premeter of a possible fall.
In the spiritual realm where fellowership with the Holy Spirit should be unceasing, wetness is a disadvantage, satisfaction is a minus but dryness is an advantage. It makes one more prone to catch easily the burning fire of the Holy Spirit, absorbing with hunger the rains of his blessings. If one must be wet, be wet against the fire of evil thoughts and desires and be dry and caked to the fire and rains of the Holy Spirit.
In this era of our Christianity we do not need wildfire according to T.A Hegre we need a holy Spirit inspired fire to stir our cold and flat emotions, fire to drive us to do something for those who are going into christless graves. We need the fire and zeal of the early church when almost every Christian was ready, if need be to be a martyr for Christ. That is the spirit we need now not the spirit of denominational partisanship, sect differentiation etc that have caged us,turning one into a beautifully designed container with no valuable content.
We have allowed petty things to set us apart, allowing doctrines, dogmas, human contrived practices with no divine approval to be the reason we are unconsciously at each others’ neck.
Happy Sunday!!
