We are in Nasarawa to appreciate your support for us— 36 ALGON Executives tell Gov. Sule, holds NEC Meeting today

Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON) Executives says there were in Nasararwa State to appreciation Governor Abdullahi Sule for the support received during their struggle for autonomy.

This is as they have arrived Nasarawa state ahed a crucial NEC meeting scheduled for today Friday.

This expression was made when the National president of the association, Alh.

Aminu Muazu-Maifata led other officials on a visit on the governor of Nasarawa State, Eng. Abdullahi Sule in Lafia.

Speaking during the visit, the association commended the Nasarawa State governor and the Government for supporting the Supreme Court judgment on the financial autonomy of the 774 Local Government Councils in the country.

The ALGON chairmen and their national officials are in Nasararwa State for National Executive Council (NEC) meeting, said that the NEC meeting was decided to be held in Lafia as a mark of honour to him.

According to the Association President, the NEC meeting would discuss issues concerning the progress and development of the people at the grassroots, change the narrative in the administration and management of resources during the NEC meeting

He further explained that it was also to honour Gov. Abdullahi Sule-led administration for being among the few governors in the country to allow area councils to operate freely even before the recent judgment by the apex court.

He also commended the state government for pledging to set up machinery in motion to ensure full implementation and compliance with the judgment.

Responding on behalf of governor Sule, the acting governor and deputy Governor. of the state, Dr Emmanuel Agbadu Akabe welcomed ALGON members to the state and appreciated them for deciding to honor the state by holding their NEC meeting in Lafia.

Akabe assured that the state government would not interfere with the finances of the local government, just as it has been since the inception of this government in 2019.

He therefore, wished the 36 Council Chairmen a successful deliberations and wished them a peaceful deliberations and safety while in the state .
