VGC Chairman Found Dead in Car, Police Launch Investigation

The Lagos State Police have initiated an investigation into the untimely demise of 42-year-old Gihan Mbelu, the chairman of Victoria Garden City (VGC) situated in the Lekki area of the state.

Mbelu, a prominent figure known for his roles as a financial adviser and venture capitalist, was discovered unconscious inside his C300 4Matic car on Friday, April 26, 2024, around 10:10 am, near the VGC premises.

According to reports by Deji Lambo, upon noticing Mbelu’s vehicle idling for an extended period, concerned individuals decided to investigate further.

Their examination revealed Mbelu inside the car, unresponsive to attempts to rouse him.
Despite efforts to revive him, he remained unconscious.

Mbelu was rushed to the Lagos University Teaching Hospital for urgent medical attention where he was confirmed dead by the doctor on duty.

Mbelu’s corpse was said to have been deposited in the hospital’s morgue. The case was also reported to the police for an investigation to commence to ascertain the circumstances surrounding Mbelu’s death.

The deceased, survived by his wife, Eloho, a prominent tech entrepreneur, former investment banker, and private equity investor, leaves behind two daughters.

Benjamin Hundeyin, the spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, verified the incident on Saturday, April 27, affirming that an investigation has been launched to determine the circumstances surrounding Mbelu’s untimely death.
