Tribunal judgement: IPAC Chairman preaches peace, calls for calm in Nasarawa

LAFIA — The Nasarawa Chairman of the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC), Hon. Cletus Ogah Tuesday called for peace, love for one another, exercise restrain from provocative ultrances in the interest of the state.

Hon. Ogah in an interview with Journalists in Lafia while reacting to the tribunal judgement that annulled the election of governor Abdullahi Sule on Monday said peaceful co-esistence is what the state required at this crucial moment of the state.

The IPAC Chairman explained that the tribunal’s verdict on the petition filed by the PDP candidate in the March election and the subsequent judgement should not be used to divide the state along religious, political and ethnic lines.

He said the judgement delivered should be seen as a test of faith, means of strengthening the bond of peace in Nasarawa sttate

“IPAC as an advisory body of the All political parties in the state has the statutory mandate to ensure peaceful co-esistence amongst the political parties as such will strategically placed itself in the position of mediation in a matter like”, Ogah stated.

“We should used the out come of the judgement to unite ourselves, ensure peace rather than a means to divide ourselves along political lines. Let the parties involved cautioned their supporters against action the could jeopardize the unity of the people.

According to Hon. Ogah, the interest of the state and the people should be paramount in whatever level of decision taking by the parties involved rather than personal interest for the interest of the development of Nasarawa and other benefits.

He assured that IPAC in Nasarawa sttate would not fold its arms and watch political activities degerate to ethnic, religious inclinations and called on other parties in the state to support the activities of the body to ensure that the dream of establishing the council is realized.

“IPAC, under my leadership has always maintained that Nasarawa state is our heritage and therefore will resist any attempt to derail the process of good governance.

He urged the governor, the candidate of the People’s Democratic party to continue to demonstrate good leadership in the state and remain united in their quest for the betterment of the state.

“Conclusively, we salute the good people of Nasarawa State for their resilience, peaceful disposition towards the development of the state”.
