TIV Leadership crisis: monarch suspended in Nasarawa for allegedly fuelling crisis

A traditional ruler of Mzough U. Tiv in Nasarawa state, TerTiv 11, Clement Ibo has been suspended by his kinsmen, the Tiv Development Association for allegedly instigating crisis among the Tiv nation in Nasarawa State.

This is even as the High court of justice sitting in Lafia have restrained the monarch and one Simeon Apusu from parading themselves as Mzough U.

Tiv and president of Tiv Development Association NASTIDA respectively.

The suspension of the monarch is said not to be unconnected with his role in the reconstitution of new leadership of TIDA in Nasarawa state that has led to litigations and endless crisis bedeviling the Tiv nation in Nasarawa

Following the erupted crisis, a high court sitting in Lafia, Nasarawa State acting on an exparte motion brought before it, restrained the two defendants, Simeon Apusu and the suspended Ter Tiv from parading themselves as leaders of the association pending the determination of the motion on Notice before the court.

“The exparte No NSD/ LF55/ 2024 dated 16th July , 2024 and filed on the 16th July, 2024 by the applicants council AO Adegun Esq in support of motion exparte is 33 paragraphs affidavit duly sworn by Hon. Chunky Solomon, president Nasarawa State Tiv Development Association in the law firm of the applicant counsel”.

According to the order of the court, “the first defendant/ Respondents is restrained from parading himself, allowing himself to be so addressed by any person, attempting to perform or performing any function, and doing anything in the capacity of the president of Nasarawa State Tiv Development Association pending the determination of the motion on Notice be the court”.

The court also issue an order of interim injunction restraining the 2nd defendant / respondent from summoning NASTIV meeting, presiding over, and doing anything related to running of affairs or administration of Nasarawa State Tiv Development Association pending the determination of motion on notice before the court.

The case has however been fixed for hearing of motion on Notice on the 26th July,2024.
