Tinubu requests Senate confirmation of 5 Directors of CBN Boa

President Bola Tinubu has sought the confirmation of Senate for appointment of five Directors of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Board.

Tinubu’s request was convayed in a letter addressed to President of Senate, Godswill Akpiabio and read during plenary in Abuja.


President Tinubu explained that his request was in compliance with the provisions of section six,sub section 1b and section 10 sub section 1 and 2 of the Central Bank of Nigeria Establishment Act 2007.

He said he was pleased to present for confirmation by the Senate, the appointment five underlisted persons as Directors of Board of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN):

Robert Agbide, Ado Wanga, Muritala Sagaley, Urom Eke and Olayinka Aliyu.

In a remark senator Akpabio referred the request to Committee on Banking, Insurance and other Financial Institutions for further legislative inputs and report back to plenary in four weeks.

Similarly, President Tinubu in a separate letter sought the confirmation of Senate for appointment of Mr Hamidu Rahim as Commissioner for National Population Commission (NPC) representing Osun State.

Tinubu said the request was in accordance with provisions of section 154 sub section 1 of the 1999 constitution as amended.

President of Senate, Godswill Akpiabio referred the request to Committee on National Population and National Indentity for further legislative inputs and to report back to plenary in one week.
