Sibalistic Reflection ONDO 2024: An Unchallengeable Victory for APC
By Olusiji Balogun
Reflecting on the just concluded Edo governorship election and the outcome, I felt a serious sympathy for the oppositions parties, that contested with the APC, especially the ruling party in Edo State, which is the PDP
It’s no more news that APC won the election with votes from the Northern Senatorial District of the state but what will be news will be the fast approaching same election in the neighbouring Ondo State come November 16, which from all indications, the APC is set to win in a landslide manner.
A victory, unchallengeable, in the sense that the present governor of the state, Orimisan Lucky Aiyedatiwa, is not only set to win convincingly from the Northern Senatorial District of the state, judging from the flag-off campaign that took place in Ikare yesterday, witnessed by a mammoth jubilating crowd but will also win also in the other Senatorial Districts of the state come November 16.
In Edo governorship election just concluded, the PDP party, which the present governor is from lost the election, partly because of the internal crisis between the governor and the deputy. An albatross in the real sense of it, whereby making the deputy governor campaigning for the APC. A divided house indeed, whereby they’re all fighting for legitimacy and acceptability among the electorates. The rest is history.
The Labour Party, on the other hand, which would have leveraged on the crisis between the governor and the deputy also blew there chances majorly because of the internal crisis at the national level. Where two parties are fighting themselves for the secretariat.
Main reason why the candidate of the LP, in the just concluded The do election, may not even deem it fit to challenge the outcome of the election. I even read in some dailies that he’s not challenging the outcome. Why would he waste his resources. Olumide Akpata, is a juggernaut when it comes to legal practice in the country. He knows a good case and a bad one. The Edo 2024 governorship election outcome is really a bad one for his party. The only beauty in it, is that they participated. Thumbs up for our democracy.
The same crisis of legitimacy is also now ravaging the PDP at the national level. Even work se than that of Labour Party. Giving them the trouble of putting two rods in fire at the same time. The governorship election in Ondo State, which is about some days and the struggle for the national secretariat currently ongoing.
Battling for the coveted seat at Alagbaka 2024 is only a jostle against an implacable windmill. One can rightly conclude there’s no opposition against APC in Ondo State.
The announcement of the unexpected new minimum wage of N73,000 for civil servants in the state and several other developmental projects and packages endeared his government the more to Ondo State people, making the saying “Ondo is Lucky” a sweet song in everyone’s lip.
Indeed, Ondo is Lucky. Only someone that doesn’t have good intentions for the people, detractors and a staunch enemy of progress will say otherwise.
For any reasonable mind, the November 16 governorship election is actually a walk in the park for APC and an unchallengeable victory for the present governor, Aiyedatiwa. His victory will be a landslide and overwhelming.
