The Minister of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs, Mr Zaphaniah Bitrus Jisalo has joined President Bola Tinubu and other well meaning Nigerians in appealing to those planning for national protest to shelve it and have confidence that the present administration will address the economic and other challenges confronting the country.

Mr Jisalo made the appeal while speaking with newsmen in Abuja.

He said since the handing over in 2023, there are some economic challenges facing the country which President Bola Tinubu is gradually addressing by implementing policies that would in the future bring relief to all Nigerians.

According to him, most of the economic challenges are also affecting other countries globally which can only be addressed through effective and result oriented strategies.

“Let me use this opportunity to appeal to our people most especially the youths to give peace a chance because no society progresses in an atmosphere of crisis and protests and that is why Nigerians must imbibe the virtues of patience and dialogue in resolving issues that have to do with the overall development of our great country, Nigeria” the Minister emphasized

He stated that some of the Issues highlighted by those behind the proposed protest are political while others are constitutional matters that will be addressed through constitutional amendment which is currently ongoing at the National Assembly.

Mr Jisalo therefore urged those planning the protest to have confidence in President Bola Tinubu’s unrelenting efforts in repositioning the country assuring Nigerians that the challenges would soon be over through joint efforts and support of all stakeholders.

The Minister expressed the hope that with the collective support of all Nigerians, the country would soon overcome its challenges and take its rightful place among comity of nations.
