Senator Jimoh Ibrahim describes Ondo gubernatorial primary election as superlative fraud

The senator representing Ondo South in the 10th national Assembly, Jimoh Ibrahim has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission to delist the ruling All Progressive Congress from the voting list in the gubernatorial election if the party fails to conduct another primary election in his senatorial district alleging that no primary election was held.

Senator Jimoh Ibrahim who stated this while briefing newsmen in Abuja said that there was controversy with revelations of alleged irregularities during the Ondo state gubernatorial primaries, casting doubt on the integrity of the electoral process of the primary election that took place April 20th, 2024.

According to Senator Ibrahim, the primaries were devoid of genuine electoral activity, insisting that it was characterized by the arbitrary allocation of figures to competing candidates.

He pointed out the case of a candidate who had withdrawn from the race but was still assigned significant figures, raising questions about the legitimacy of the results.

Senator Ibrahim further revealed his personal ordeal, stating his inability to participate in the primary election, despite notifying party officials of his predicament, he alleged that attempts were made to facilitate his vote outside of the designated polling units, a move he vehemently opposed.

The senator emphasized the importance of upholding democratic values and transparency within the electoral process, stressing the need for fair and equitable primaries.
He cited instances where INEC had declared no elections in certain wards, further fueling concerns about the integrity of the electoral process.

He asserted that their actions would not escalate into legal battles but rather seek redress through proper channels for the greater good of the Nigerian populace.

In response to the alleged irregularities, Senator Ibrahim said he has compiled evidence and sent to the federal high court in Abuja and the party’s headquarters as he awaits their actions within 7 days.
