Senator Aminu Iya Abbas (Adamawa Central Senatorial District) Chairman Senate Committee on Science,Technology and Innovation, on Wednesday expressed deep sorrow over the death of the Hon Olaide Adewale Akinremi representing Oyo North and Chairman House Committee on Science Institutions, after a brief illness in Abuja.

In a statement by his Special Assistant (Media and Public Affairs), Ahmad Muhammad Danyaro, in Abuja, Abbas described the death of Hon Akinremi as a national loss.

“I am saddened to learn about the passing of a friend and colleague, Hon Olaide Adewale Akinremi (Jagaban) whom we have interacted in synergy for the science and technology sector since the inauguration of the 10th National Assembly.

“As a ranking lawmaker, Hon Adewale stood out for the quality of his contributions on the joint committees, his pragmatism and his work to strengthen the institution of the legislature. We shall sorely miss his vibrancy and progressive mindset.

“As we mourn his passing, my thoughts and prayers are with his family, Speaker and members of the House of Representatives, the government and people of Oyo State. His death is disheartening but we take consolation in the fact that he lived a good life.

“I pray that the Almighty Allah, in his infinite grace, grants the dear and departed Member a place among the righteous ones in Aljannah firdaus,” Abbas stated.
