Reports suggesting an impending impeachment of Senate President Godswill Akpabio have been dismissed as false and mischievous by the Senate’s spokesperson, Yemi Adaramodu. He assured Nigerians that the Senate remains united and stands firmly behind Akpabio’s leadership.

Addressing the growing rumors, Adaramodu emphasized that the Senate is stable, with no discussions or plans to remove Akpabio from office.

“The Senate is solid like the Rock of Gibraltar,” he remarked, adding that the rumors were ill-willed distractions meant to divert attention from the Senate’s focus on pressing national matters.

Backing these statements, the Chairman of the Northern Senators Forum, Senator Abdulaziz Yaradua, reiterated the strong support Akpabio enjoys from his colleagues, particularly northern senators.

“We are solidly behind the Senate President,” Yaradua said, calling on Nigerians to dismiss the rumors. “There are far more important issues facing the country than to entertain such baseless talks about impeachment.”

The speculation surrounding Akpabio’s position surfaced in political circles recently, sparking concerns about potential instability within the legislative body.

However, both Adaramodu and Yaradua stressed that the Senate is focused on its core mandate, including addressing urgent national concerns such as security, economic reforms, and governance challenges.

Adaramodu further addressed the overall state of the nation, revealing that the Senate is actively working with government agencies to gather information before issuing its final stance on critical issues affecting the country. “We are committed to our oversight responsibilities and will ensure that every agency is held accountable,” he stated.
The Senate equally reaffirmed its dedication to legislative work, assuring citizens that there is no truth to the impeachment rumors circulating about its leadership.
