Senate Orders Arrest of Culprits of Slain Niger Priest

Two weeks after the gruesome murder of the Niger State priest, Reverend Father Isaac Achi, the Senate has finally callied for the probe and arrests of the culprits.
The Senate on Wednesday observed a one-minute silence in honour of the slain priest, who was burnt to death in the Paikoro Local Government area in Niger State.
Terrorists, in the early hours of Sunday, January 15, burnt the Catholic priest alive in his church.
Achi until his untimely death was the Kafin Koro Deanery of the Minna Diocese of Niger State and the Reverend Father in charge of St Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Kafin Koro.
The point of order was raised by the Niger-East lawmaker, Senator Sani Musa, who cited Orders 42 and 51 to seek the leave of the Senate to present a motion on the gruesome murder of Rev.
Lawan said, “The Senate condemned in strongest terms, the gruesome murder of Rev. Father Isaac Achi and other natives killed alongside.
“The Senate urges the Nigeria Police and other relevant security agencies to carry out a comprehensive investigation into this dastardly act and promptly arrest and prosecute the perpetrators.”
The Senate also, “urged the National Emergency Management Agency to urgently carry out construction work on the residence of the priest that was raised down.
“Condole with Bishop of Minna Diocese, Catholic Faithful and the bereaved family.”
The Senate, thereafter, condoled with the family of the deceased, the Bishop of Minna Diocese and observed a one-minute silence in honour of the deceased.
