The Nigerian Senate has officially confirmed the appointments of Mr. Ola Olukoyede as the new chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and Mrs. Halima Shehu as the National Coordinator and Chief Executive Officer of the National Social Investment Programme Agency (NSIPA).

This resolution by the red chamber followed a thorough screening of the nominees in a Committee of the Whole, held in Abuja on Wednesday.

The nominations had been put forth by President Ahmed Bola Tinubu, who, in a letter on Tuesday, requested the Senate to consider and approve these key appointments.

Mr. Olukoyede’s confirmation as the EFCC chairman is of particular significance in Nigeria’s efforts to combat economic and financial crimes, while Mrs.

Shehu’s appointment as the head of NSIPA reflects the government’s commitment to its social investment programs.

The Senate’s approval of these appointments marks a crucial step in ensuring the continued effectiveness and integrity of these vital organizations within the Nigerian government.
