Senate Confirms 21 New RMAFC Commissioners

The Senate has confirmed the appointments of 21 nominees as federal commissioners for the Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC). This confirmation follows the presentation of a report by Senator Yahaya Abdullahi, representing Kebbi North.

Recall that President Bola Tinubu forwarded the names of the nominees in August, after which he sought the Senate’s approval.

While presenting the report, Senator Abdullahi, who is the chairman of the joint committee on national planning, economic affairs, and finance, noted that all nominees are qualified to serve in public office.
He emphasized that with these appointments, all 36 states of the federation are now represented on the RMAFC board.

“The confirmation of these 21 nominees means the commission is now fully constituted, with representation from every state,” Abdullahi said.

Below is the list of the confirmed commissioners:

1. Linda Nkechi Oti — Abia

2. Akpan Imo Effiong — Akwa Ibom

3. Enefe Ekene — Anambra

4. Steve Ugba — Benue

5. Eyonsa Whiley — Cross River

6. Aruviere Egharhevwe — Delta

7. Nduka Henry Awuregu — Ebonyi

8. Victor Eboigbe — Edo

9. Wumi Ogunlola — Ekiti

10. Ozo Obumreme Obodougo — Enugu

11. Kabir Ibrahim Mashi — Katsina

12. Adamu Fanda — Kano

The RMAFC plays a critical role in the distribution of revenue from the federal government to states and local governments. The confirmation of these commissioners is expected to enhance the commission’s operations and ensure fairness in revenue allocation across the country.
