SDP Governorship Candidate Responds to Court of Appeal Verdict

In response to the recent verdict from the Court of Appeal, Alhaji Murtala Yakubu Ajaka, the governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Kogi State, issued a press statement expressing both acknowledgment and disappointment while vowing to continue the fight for justice.

The statement, released shortly after the court’s decision, acknowledged the ruling while asserting the belief that irregularities and manipulations had influenced the outcome of their petition.

“We acknowledge and respect the decision of the Court of Appeal,” said Ajaka, “but we strongly believe that some irregularities and manipulations influenced the outcome of this petition.

Addressing supporters, Ajaka called for calm and urged against any form of violence or unlawful behavior in response to the verdict. He emphasized the importance of upholding democratic principles and pursuing justice through legal channels.

The SDP candidate extended gratitude to his legal team for their diligence and dedication throughout the legal battle, commending their expertise and commitment to justice despite the disappointing outcome thus far.

“We have full faith in the Nigerian judicial system,” Ajaka affirmed, expressing confidence that the Supreme Court would rectify what he described as injustices inflicted upon them.

Looking ahead, Ajaka assured supporters that the party would prepare thoroughly for the next legal steps, leaving “no stone unturned” in their pursuit of justice. He called upon all political followers and citizens of Kogi State to remain steadfast and united in their pursuit of reclaiming what he termed their “stolen mandate.”

“We must stand united and continue to support our legal team,” Ajaka urged, portraying the setback as a stepping stone toward eventual victory. He concluded with a resolute message: “Together, we shall overcome this temporary setback and emerge victorious,” he added.
