By David Okpashi
Former Director General, National Orientation Agency (NOA), Dr Mike Omeri has asked Nigerians, especially the Muslim faithfuls to use the window availed by Sallah to seek Allah’s Mubarak and intervention in the challenges confronting the Nation.
Omeri has also urged Nigerians not to allow the prevailing hardship in the country to affect their collective spirit of love, brotherliness, and peaceful co-existence even as he has assured that our wish for better time ahead shall come to pass as ordained by our hardworking and God almighty.
The former NOA DG, while congratulating Muslims on completion of Ramadan fast
in a statement, noted that this year’s Eid-El Fitri festivities would not only engender the spirit of oneness and re-dedication to the virtues of love, patriotism and unity for the desired national development, but tackle the unbearable situation in the country.
The former Senatorial candidate of the People’s Democratic party in Nasarawa South Senatorial district noted that the two major faiths Christianity and Islam coming out of their fasting period at this time should allow the solemnity of the holy period to influence their thoughts and actions in relating with one another for the better future of the country.
“It’s discomforting the amount of blood being shed in this country on daily basis, we must use our various religions to propagate peace and unity of the country especially at this ample opportunity available to us for sobber reflections to asked God for his prompt intervention.”.
According to Omeri, “the blood of thousands of innocent souls being wasted daily in our land at various troubled spots, particularly the stress of school children in the North, the needless death of our troops should be enough reason to plead to God to save this country from destruction.
“An intense prayer for our dear country has become very necessary more than ever before for those who believe as our nationhood is in dire need of divine intervention to survive the unimaginable onslaught on our collective psyche.
Omeri therefore implored Nigerians particularly the people of Nasarawa state not to despair and miss the essence and meaning of festivity and the divine succour it brings, assuring that there is always a flicker of light which gives hope at the end of every tunnel as a new Nasarawa is still Possible.”
