The Senator representing Delta North Senatorial Zone, Senator Prince Ned Nwoko, on Tuesday denied the allegations making the round in the social media alleging that he was working against the governor and the government of Delta State over the Okpai Power plant and other issues.

The Senator reacting to the allegations in a statement issued to the Media by Gloria Okolugbo, Communication Team Lead to the Senator, Nwoko described the write-up as a poor and uninformed attempt at polarising his relationship with the Delta State Government without due deligence, rather raising all manners of wild speculations.

The statement accused the author of the media propaganda for being speculative and displayed of crass ignorance of the issues, stressing that in the various write ups the author of the speculative information lay claims that “Okpai Plant is a National Asset rather than a State-owned Initiative”,as well as alleging that Senator Nwoko made derogatory statement, stressing the fact that the writers or the authors of the write-ups digressed from speaking to the issues at hand which according to the statement resulted from lack of understanding of the issues thus leaving on its trail much to be desired.

According to the statement, the analogy of what transpired during a recent Community Consultative Forum at Enzioum where the Distinguished Senator seized the opportunity to explain to Ndokwa Ukuani leaders what he considered as challenges bedeviling development and his efforts so far in one year of his tenure fell below expectations

“What transpired at that occasion was purely conversational with no ill intent but that regrettably, it has been misconstrued and politicised for the purposes of mischief”

The statement regretted that from what it has seen in the social media space, especially that the Senator “Berated” the Governor which is pure digression from the issues and core value of the conversation.

“Reading through the article shows complete misrepresentation of how governance works and the role of the federating units as well as the legislature”.

Senator Ned Nwoko in the statement explained that though over the years, Ndokwa people generate dwell where power is generated and transmitted.to the National Grid but never enjoyed or be felt the positive impact of the energy project in their land until the person of distinguished senator Ned Nwoko got to the National Assembly.

” In seeking to impress the Governor, it is important to get busy making productive input not offering uninformed opinions online and unsolicited advice to the State Government not get involved in an important sector like power generation issue.”
