The Police Service Commission (PSC) has appointed AIG Ari Mohammed Ali as the new Deputy Inspector General of Police, following the retirement of DIG Ade Ayuba. The appointment was made during an emergency management meeting on Tuesday, November 19, 2024.

This was made known in a press release signed by Mr. Ikechukwu Ani, Head, Press and Public Relations on Tuesday, in Abuja.

AIG Ali, who hails from Nasarawa State in the North Central region, previously served as the AIG in charge of Zone One, Kano. He assumes this new role to represent the same region as his predecessor, DIG Ayuba.

PSC Chairman, DIG Hashimu Argungu (rtd), emphasized the importance of professionalism and a zero-tolerance policy toward corruption under Ali’s leadership.

He reiterated that the Commission is committed to supporting the Nigerian Police Force in its mission to protect lives, property, and ensure accountability.

DIG Argungu stated, “We are building a new Police Force that will be a source of pride for Nigerians—free of corruption, but full of vigor and determination to serve.” He expressed confidence that the new DIG would align with the Commission’s vision of a reformed and accountable Police Force.

In their remarks, DIG Taiwo Lakanu (rtd) and Chief Onyemuche Nnamani, PSC Commissioner and Secretary, respectively, also extended their congratulations to the newly appointed DIG and assured him of the Commission’s full support in his new role.
