Projects inspection not Nasarawa assignment — IPAC tells PDP, says assessment tour a national policy

Nassarawa Council of the Inter Party Advisory Council (IPAC) Monday declared that the recent projects tour of the state was a nationwide assessment of projects to ensure accountability, put the elected representatives on their toes as well as providing the electorates with the needed devidends of democracy.

The council also appealed to Nigerians especially members of IPAC to be constructive in their criticism in order not to set back the developmental space the nation and it’s citizenry are yearning for.

Chairman of IPAC in Nasarawa state, Cletus Ogah told reporters in Lafia while reacting to a statement credited to the people’s Democratic party that the visit of the National body of IPAC was to propagate the activities and programmes of the government in power in Nasarawa state.

,According to Hon. Ogah, inspection of projects undertaken by the National body was to ensure that government at all levels were held accountable to their promises to the people.

“The Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) in Nasarawa wants to set the records straight and to disabused the minds of Nigerians from insinuations and perception that the current project assessment was designed to propagate the activities of the government in power at any level”,

“The council called on all Nigerians to imbibed the significance of collective and honest commitment in order to deepen the culture, values and practice of democracy as a framework for the development and progress of the country.

The state chairman said it is important for Nigerians to be on the same page with IPAC in it’s efforts to strengthen the Democratic processes by holding the government at all levels accountable by ensuring that projects, programmes and activities of government were in turn with the yearning and aspirations of the people

“As an advisory body of all the political parties in Nigeria we we owe it a duty to ensure that Nigerian are made to understand what they were getting from those elected to rule them especially now that the country is in another era of administration”, the chairman declared.

In his words “It is our fervent prayers and hope that under the watch of our National president, a temperate and healing winds of economic turnaround, recovery and attendant stability; restoration of our known cherished culture of harmonious and peaceful coexistence among all the component nationalities and communities of our country is achieved”.

“It is therefore incumbent on all Nigerians to resolve to criticism constructively, rekindle their hope, love and dedication as they imbibe in their hearts and ways, the spirit of doing things right as a people.
