Prioritize peace, unity for meaningful development in Nasarawa — Speaker urges residents **Says Tiv nation’s disposition to peace, food security worthy of commendation

LAFIA —Speaker, Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Danladi Jatau, has called on all ethnic groups in the state to prioritize peace, unity devoid of religious ethnic and political sentiment as no nation thrived and survived without meaningful development in the face of rancour, disunity.

This is even as the speaker however recognized the thepeaceful disposition of the Tiv Nation for their positive contributions mentenance of peace, ensure food insecurity in the State.

The Speaker who gave the admonition while playing host to officials of Tiv Development Association and political appointees in the state in his office, eulogized the Tiv speaking people in the state for their peaceful dispositions, intellectual contributions to the education section and most importantly their farming prowess which he said is contributing greatly in enhancing food and agriculture.

He said the Tiv speaking people of Nasarawa State should not be underated in the quest to develop the state, calling for more inclusion of TIV people in that act of governance, knowing fully well that their numerical strength adds value to electoral process.

While, commending further the Tiv people for supporting the administration of Governor Abdullahi Sule, he urged residents to do more in the overall development and success of the present administration.

He assured all the residents of the state to expect good governance and speedy development, especially now that the legal battles on the governorship elections were over and called on all to prioritize peace, adding that no nation would achieve meaningful development without peace and unity.

Earlier, the Leader of the delegation and Special Adviser to Gov. Sule on Project Monitoring, Hon. Moses Utundu had said that they were at the State House of Assembly to identify with Speaker on his emergence as Speaker of the 7th Assembly and to congratulate APC over the recent Supreme Court victory.

He said that the Tiv people in the state have not lose track in supporting the government of the day and assured the Speaker of their prayers and support to enable him and Gov. Sule to succeed.

“Our prayers for the governor and the entire state will not cease especially, the government of governor Abdullahi Sule, who is hell bent in providing security to lives and property at the grassroots,” he said

In a related development, Speaker Danladi Jatau also played host to the District, Chairmen and Secretaries of Evangelical Church Wining of ECWA in Nasarawa State led by Jacob Egba, who were on visit to identify with the speaker, who is a member of the church for his emergence as the leader of the House.

Egba called on the Speaker to be transparent in piloting the affairs of the House, a visit the speaker said was commendable and called on religious leaders to pray for the government to succeed and advocate for peace among their adherents.

It would be recalled that the visit had in attendance the elites, former and serving political appointees of Tiv extraction in Nasarawa State, their traditional ruler, the Ter-Tiv, Clement Ibor under the auspices of Tiv Development Association (TIDA)
