Pregnant Woman, 11 others Killed in Benue State Gun Attack

Gunmen, Sunday, unleashed a deadly assault on Ole’Adag’aklo village in Usha Council Ward of Agatu LGA, Benue State, leaving 11 people dead, including a pregnant woman.

According to local residents, the attackers struck in the evening, launching a brutal onslaught on the village inhabitants, resulting in the loss of 11 lives and the abduction of several others.

Confirming the tragic killings, the Chairman of Agatu, Yakubu Ochepo, conveyed the grim details, stating, “Of the number, seven corpses have been recovered.

The corpses of a pregnant woman, an elderly man, and five youths have been recovered.
Soldiers went there yesterday (Sunday) to recover the corpses.
There were gunshots and the armed herders ran away only to regroup.”

Ochepo further revealed the grim aftermath, mentioning, “We hear they also captured some people alive and threw others into the river.”

While the authorities mobilize to address the dire situation, the police spokesperson in the state, SP Catherine Anene, expressed unawareness of the incident, highlighting the need for urgent investigation and intervention.
