Political inequality: SASSO new President urges unity, connections among Nigeria women

Newly inaugurated National President of St. Anne’s Secondary School Otukpo Old Girls Association, (SASSO), Pharm. (Mrs) Bridget Aladi Otote, has urged women in Nigeria to connect with one another, speak with one voice and live in peace if they must remain relevant in governance.

Pharm. (Mrs) Bridget Aladi Otote who spoke at the 2024 National convention of (SASSO) shortly after emerging as the new president of the association, declared that for women to realize their potential and compete favourable with their male counterpart unity of purpose must be their guiding principle.

While lamenting the political inequality and disparity in politics, denial of women reasonable percentage considerations of opportunities in government Pharmacist Bridget Aladi Otote noted that appointment of woman in key positions such as Ministers we’re also at the description of the male folk which she said was not good enough for the women in Nigeria.

“I encourage each and every one of us to engage fully in activities that will expose you, share your stories, and connect with old friends and new faces alike. Remember, every conversation you have today could spark a new idea or rekindle a cherished memory”, Pharm. Otote stated..

“As we gather here, let us take a moment to reflect on the journey that has brought us together. Each of us carries the rich legacy of St. Anne’s, shaped by our experiences, friendships, and the values instilled in us during our formative years. Today, we celebrate not just our past, but the vibrant community we continue to build.

“This convention is key to our commitment to fostering connections, sharing knowledge, and uplifting one another. Together, we can strengthen our bonds and empower the future generations of St. Anne’s

Let us embrace this opportunity to learn, inspire, and grow in several opportunities open for us out there including seeking elective positions as well as aspiring for appointments” President Otote stated.

Pharm. Bridget Aladi Otote, who thanked members of the association for turning up for the occasion, admonished them to embrace the opportunity to learn, inspire, and grow in their various fields of endeavours.

While promising to take SASSO beyond it’s status, the newly inaugurated President appealed to members of the association to remain committed, dedicated to the growth of the association.

“Want to appeal to all of us to remain steadfast, focused and in what will grow SASSO. I alone can’t do it. Let us imbibe the spirit of team work, uphold the virtues, culture and norms of the founding fathers of SASSO”, Pharm. Otote added.
