Persons with Disabilities advocates for 3 ministerial slots

The National President, Joint National Association of Persons with Disabilities Malam Abdullahi Aliyu has appealed to President Bola Tinubu to give three ministerial positions to people with disabilities in addition to special advisers.

He made the call in Abuja at a world press conference on the state of affairs of Nigerians with Disabilities.

Malam Abdullahi said Persons with Disabilities deserve to better treatment at all levels of governance, hence the need for their inclusion in the cabinet.

The National President of the Joint National Association of Persons with Disabilities also called on the President to allocate ten percent of any palliative that would cushion the effect of the removal of fuel subsidy to persons with disabilities, to enable them meet up with their daily activities.

He said the experiences Persons with Disabilities went through during COVID-19, while getting palliative should be avoided.

Malam Abdullahi also urged the President to look into the budgetry allocation of the newly created National Commission of Persons with Disabilities with the aim of increasing it, to cater for the benefit of the disability community in the country.

The group insisted that the National Commission of Persons with Disabilities should be under the control and supervision of Mr President.
