Renowned rights activist and Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Mike Ozekhome, has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to consider changing Nigeria’s name and national flag, in addition to reverting to the old national anthem.

Speaking during a press conference on Wednesday, Ozekhome commended the administration for its decision to return to the old national anthem, describing it as a welcome development.

He emphasized that the change was long overdue and expressed his elation at Nigeria’s return to the anthem that he had advocated for a decade earlier.

“Bringing the old National Anthem back is well overdue. It has better lyrics in content and context like the Senate President said.

It is better than the other one,” Ozekhome remarked.

However, he went further to suggest that alongside the anthem reversion, serious consideration should be given to changing Nigeria’s name and national flag. This proposal, though radical, adds a new dimension to the ongoing discourse surrounding national identity and symbolism.
