The National Population Commission (NPC) has alerted the public to a fraudulent website, https://qpetition.org/NPC-Ad-Hoc-Staff-Recruitment.html, falsely claiming to offer recruitment for the 2025 Population and Housing Census. The Commission has warned that the website was created by scammers aiming to defraud unsuspecting citizens.

In a statement issued in Abuja, the Director of Public Affairs, Erelu Taibat Yemi Oloruntoba, clarified that the NPC is not currently conducting any recruitment for census Ad-hoc staff. She emphasized that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, has yet to issue a proclamation date for the next Population and Housing Census, making any recruitment claims premature and fraudulent.

The Commission assured Nigerians that whenever a date is set for the national census and recruitment for Ad-hoc staff becomes necessary, official announcements will be made through national media, the NPC’s social media platforms, and its official website.

The NPC urged the public to disregard the fake website and avoid falling victim to fraudsters. It also stated that efforts are underway to identify those behind the scam. Citizens are advised to rely solely on the Commission’s official channels for accurate information regarding its activities.

“We will continue to keep the public informed about developments concerning the first biometric Population and Housing Census in Nigeria,” the statement read. “We urge Nigerians to support the Commission’s efforts to ensure a successful and credible census exercise.”
