Nomad Vigilante Group: Be consistent in your approach to security issues opposition —PDP tells gov. Sule ***alleges backtracking support for vigilante group

LAFIA —THE opposition People’s Democratic party PDP in Nasarawa state Thursday expressed concerns over alleged inconsistency on the policy direction of Governor Abdullahi Sule’s administration towards the security of lives and property of the people in the state.

The party in a press briefing by its Chairman, Francis Orogu criticised the administration of governor Sule accusing him of backtracking on his support for the Nomad Vigilante group.

The opposition PDP Chairman who spoke against escalating tensions arising from increased insecurity situation in Nasarawa state, claimed that the opposition PDP was prompted by Governor Sule’s alleged denial of having anything to do with the Nomad Vigilante group.

According to Orogu, “despite Sule acknowledging the role of the nomad Vigilante Group in assisting the conventional security in combating insecurity in the state during an interview with Channels Television turned around to deny the group just because the Nomad National president was arrested by the DSS”..

Orogu who condemned the governor’s purported inconsistency, labelled him as a “serial betrayer” for denying publicly a group he has owned up to in his previous statements.

“I am not against the Nomad group if its operation is within the armpit of the law provided it will enhance security of the state. We in the opposition and indeed the people of the state will have no reasons for not supporting the group”, the PDP Chairman stated.

“Why will the Chief security of a state sharply reversed his stance on an issue if security after extending government facilities for the inauguration of the group only to disown them while under pressure”. Orogu questioned.

On the upcoming bye-elections scheduled for Saturday in some areas in the state, Orogu gave assurance that PDP was ready and prepared for the electoral provided a level playing group is in place for peaceful, fair and credible election in the state.

The opposition People’s Democratic party Chairman who however cautioned against manipulation of the election also appealed to the newly appointed Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Nasarawa, to uphold the commitment to fairness and transparency.

He warned against any potential deviation from delivering free and fair elections, emphasizing that any hint of electoral malpractice could result in legal challenges and endanger the lives of citizens.
