The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPCL) stands to faced disciplinary actions as its top executives declined to appear before the Senate Ad-hoc committee investigating the state of the nation’s Refinery Turn Around Maintenance (TAM) projects.

Representatives delegated by the executives were turned away by the committee, which insisted on direct engagement with the executives themselves.

Senator Jibrin Isah (Kogi East), the committee’s Chairman, expressed dismay at the executives’ absence and warned of potential disciplinary actions should they fail to attend future hearings.

Isah criticized their non-appearance, stating, “Their reluctance suggests they have something to hide.

The requested documents should be readily available; they could have even submitted them digitally.”

He further suggested that their reluctance to face the committee might stem from apprehension about the committee’s knowledge of the situation. Isah emphasized the Senate’s commitment to upholding accountability, asserting that no one is exempt from the law, and consequences, including potential job terminations, might follow.

He reaffirmed the Senate’s adherence to procedural guidelines and vowed that the committee will take all necessary measures to address the issue at hand.
