Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Assumes office, promises to place nation at pinnacle of global relevance

The newly appointed Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, in his inaugural speech has promised to unveil new policies to rightly place Nigeria at the regional and global decision-making pinnacle.


Ambassador Tuggar stated this in his address as he assumed office at the ministry’s head office in Abuja after the swearing-in ceremony at the presidential villa.

He said that the ministry of Foreign Affairs has a stake to maintain its high standard especially now that the West Africa region is in a turbulent period.

According to him, his administration will be bringing out new policies centered on the development of the region, democracy and demography.


“The Ministry for Foreign Affairs is at the forefront of promoting Nigeria’s interest and protecting our citizens globally.
“As a historically important ministry, Foreign Affairs have long represented a high standard of excellence. It is therefore our job to make sure that those standards never fail.”
He added that the new visions will help address modern complex problems confronting the ministry.
Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar is an experienced organizational analyst, professional in oil and gas consulting. He was a Chevening Scholarship recipient, an advocate for policy implementation at the Federal and state Levels. As a lawmaker, he contributed immensely in the various committees and sub-committees in which he was assigned and served. He was born to Abubakar and Fatima Binta Tuggar in Gombe State. In June 2017, he was appointed as the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to the Federal Republic of Germany
