Nigerian Red Cross Society Celebrates Successes, Eyes Innovation and Growth in Humanitarian Efforts.

The Nigerian Red Cross Society, NRCS, has released its Humanitarian Report, showcasing its achievements and outlining its future goals.
The report, titled “Reflection, Resilience, and Recommitment to Humanitarian Service,” was presented in Abuja at the NRCS’s Annual General Meeting.
Speaking at the meeting, NRCS President Prince Oluyemisi Adeaga acknowledged the collective efforts that defined the year’s successes.
He highlighted key initiatives, including flood response initiatives that addressed devastating floods in several states.
Notably, the relief operations supported thousands of families in Adamawa, Anambra, Oyo, Kebbi, Kogi, and Rivers states.
Moreover, the NRCS collaborated with the Norwegian Red Cross and the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) to launch a Training of Trainers (ToT) program, strengthening the country’s preparedness for the MPOX outbreak.
Following catastrophic flooding in Maiduguri and its environs, the NRCS swiftly mobilized relief efforts, raising ₦6.7 million in just three weeks.
Furthermore, the Society provided items worth ₦100,000 each to 1,850 affected households.
Recognizing the urgent need to address hunger and malnutrition, the NRCS launched a ₦2.5 billion hunger crisis fundraising campaign.
Although the full amount was not raised, the initiative fostered partnerships that will support future humanitarian efforts.
In addition, the NRCS held its first International Youth Camp in Agbor, Delta State, showcasing its commitment to nurturing young humanitarian leaders.
The event was declared open by Delta State Governor, Elder Sherriff Oborevwori, who emphasized the importance of empowering youth for sustained impact.
Looking ahead, As climate change, health emergencies, and disaster management challenges persist, the NRCS aims to innovate and strengthen its networks to better serve vulnerable communities.
“Our volunteers are the lifeblood of our organization,” said Prince Adeaga. “To our donors and supporters, thank you for believing in our mission. Together, we will continue to serve humanity with dignity, efficiency, and compassion.”
The Nigerian Red Cross Society reaffirmed its commitment to its core values of humanity, impartiality, neutrality, independence, voluntary service, unity, and universality in 2025 and beyond.
