The Nigerian Army has issued a stern warning to the Okuama community in Delta state, cautioning them to brace for the full force of the law. This warning comes in the wake of an incident involving the killing of soldiers who were on a peacekeeping mission amidst a communal clash between Okuama and Okoloba communities.

In a statement released by Major-General Onyema Nwachukwu, the Director of Army Public Relations, the Army condemned the Okuama community for resorting to propaganda instead of cooperating in identifying the perpetrators of the heinous crime.

The statement emphasized the despicable nature of the soldiers’ killing, describing it as a cold-blooded act committed by armed youths from the Okuama Community.

The soldiers, who were dedicated to maintaining peace and security in the Niger Delta Region, were brutally murdered, with their remains desecrated.

The Army expressed disappointment at the community’s attempts to manipulate the narrative through media propaganda, highlighting their failure to take responsibility for the crime. It underscored that the community’s actions indicated a coordinated attack against legitimate forces.

While assuring law-abiding citizens of no reprisal, the Army reiterated its commitment to identifying and apprehending the perpetrators. The Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Toareed Lagbaja, extended condolences to the families of the fallen soldiers and directed exhaustive efforts to ensure justice is served.
