NIDCOM Urges Nigerians to Evacuate Lebanon Amid Israeli Airstrikes

In response to the escalating Israeli airstrikes on Hezbollah and other regions in Lebanon, the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM) has advised Nigerians residing in the country to either leave immediately or move to safer areas.

The growing violence has raised serious concerns for the safety of foreign nationals, including Nigerians.

NIDCOM’s advisory comes at a time when commercial flights are still available, and the Commission is urging Nigerians to take advantage of this opportunity to evacuate.

For those unable to leave, NIDCOM recommends relocating to less affected areas.

Reports from the Nigerian community in Lebanon indicate that most Nigerians have already moved away from high-risk areas, particularly in the southern part of the country. As of now, no Nigerian has been reported injured or involved in any incidents related to the conflict.

The commission also advised Nigerians to remain in close contact with the Nigerian Embassy in Lebanon for up-to-date safety instructions and guidance on staying secure amid the unrest.

“The welfare and safety of Nigerians abroad is of utmost concern to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” the Commission stated in its release, adding that Nigerians should remain cautious and vigilant as the situation evolves.

NIDCOM continues to monitor the situation closely, urging all Nigerian nationals in Lebanon to prioritize their safety and heed government advisories until a ceasefire is declared.
