Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Chairman/CEO of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), has called on people of African descent worldwide to unite in promoting the diversity, strength, and progress of the continent.

Speaking during a strategic meeting with the Cuban Ambassador to Nigeria, Miriam Morales Palmero, in Abuja, Dabiri-Erewa emphasized that The Decade for the People of African Descent presents a unique opportunity for Africans globally to foster a stronger, more united continent.

When talking about the importance of collaboration, she noted that NiDCOM is committed to working with Cuba to enhance diaspora engagement through cultural exchange programs that strengthen shared heritage.

Ambassador Miriam Morales Palmero underscored the significance of cultural exchanges in building identities, especially given the historical ties between Africa and Cuba. She extended an invitation to Dabiri-Erewa to participate in The Decade for the People of African Descent celebration scheduled for December in Havana and Matanzas provinces.

The ambassador explained that the event mirrors the Badagry Door of Return Festival in Lagos, showcasing the spiritual and socio-economic significance of reconnecting the African Diaspora with its roots.

While commending Dabiri-Erewa’s leadership in engaging with the diaspora, Palmero expressed her eagerness to establish a mutually beneficial partnership between Cuba and NiDCOM to celebrate shared history and culture.
