New Documentary Released by DHQ Chronicles the Tragic Loss of Military Personnel in Delta State

The Nigerian Defence Headquarters has unveiled a new documentary shedding light on the solemn burial rites of slain military personnel in Delta state.

On Thursday, March 14, a devastating incident unfolded as 17 Nigerian soldiers, serving on a peacekeeping mission, were mercilessly killed in the Okuama community within the Ugheli South LGA of Delta state.

Promising swift justice, the military has pledged to apprehend those responsible for this heinous act.

Released on Thursday, March 28, via social media platforms, the documentary from the defence headquarters pays homage to the fallen soldiers, laid to rest at the army cemetery in Abuja on Wednesday, March 27.

During the burial ceremony, President Bol Tinubu extended scholarships to the university level for the children of the deceased officers and soldiers, reaffirming his commitment to ensuring justice for the military.

Echoing this sentiment, General Christopher G. Musa, the chief of defence staff, asserted the military’s unwavering determination to unravel the truth behind this tragedy, declaring, “The perpetrators of violence who seek to sow discord and fear among our people know this; our resolve will not waver.”

In the early hours of Saturday, March 16, military personnel on patrol discovered the lifeless bodies of 14 slain soldiers in the Okuama community. Shockingly, some of the victims had been mutilated, with reports indicating missing body parts. Additionally, a commanding officer and two majors were found dead, their bodies recovered from the riverbanks nearby.
