NASENI TO UNVEIL MADE- IN NIGERIA MILITARY EQUIPMENT

The National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) says it will in no distant time unveil its Made in Nigeria military weapon and equipment to strengthen the fight against the nation’s unending security challenges
This is contained in a statement by the
Deputy Director, Information NASENI,
Olusegun Ayeoyenikan in Abuja.
According to the statement, NASENI in collaboration with some indigenous research Institutions and the Nigerian Army Corps of Electrical and Mechanical Engineers had commenced the production of a12.
The statement notes
that the Chief Executive of NASENI, Professor Mohammed Haruna, while on a courtesy visit to the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Faruk Yahaya briefed him on the steps taken so far by the Agency in implementing the Presidential directive on producing weapons locally to fight against insecurity.
It also states that his visit to the Chief of Army Staff was to request for strategic guidelines on how to carry out the Presidential directive bearing in mind that the Armed Forces is the end user of the product.
The statement adds that the Chief of Army Staff Lt. Gen. Faruk Yahaya said local production of military weapons will not only enhance Nigeria’s possession of weapons but make it easier to have access to them and also create employment.
The statement therefore encourages NASENI to continue with its efforts in research and development of equipment, tools and spare parts for the development of the nation.
