NADDC promises encouragement to Jet Motors, other electric vehicle manufacturers

The Director General (DG), National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC), Mr Jelani Aliyu has assured Jet Motors and other electric vehicle manufacturing companies of continued serious and strong support from the agency under his watch to enable them continue in the innovation.

The DG made the promise when the partners of the NADDC: an entertainment guru and the Managing Director (MD) Phoenix Distribution, Prince Dare Adefioye, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Jet Motor Company, Mr Joseph Osanapin and Engr Rosilu Emmanuel paid courtesy call on the NADDC recently.

The Jet Motor Company has recently manufactured Electric Vehicle (EV).

Welcoming the partners, he commended the motor company in its effort to manufacture electric vehicles in the country and reiterated that the Council would continue to strongly support Jet Motors and other EV producers in the country.

He said that the agency would be supportive to the companies through policies, technical interventions and in promoting public awareness in the advantages of zero emission transportation for enhanced marketability.

He therefore added that the automotive sector in Nigeria was about to go through a dynamic paradym shift that would positively affect hundreds of millions of lives and the environment.

However, the CEO of Jet Motors, Mr Osanipin, expressed his company’s willingness and excitement to be part of the NADDC EV project, which is according to him is a pilot program, made up of a number of EV charging stations in the country.

“The company’s Jet Mover Electric Van is part of the program,” added.

The team further discussed in the areas of growth and collaboration with the NADDC, and urged the NADDC to set up an EV Charger Station at its headquarters in Abuja, to powers the Electric Van with the Jet Motors Fast Charger. They added that the station, which is hybrid, is powered by solar and the grid and acts as a base for monitoring and evaluation of the performance of the integrated solar system: the fast charger and the electric vehicles deployed from there.
