The premises of Top Rank Hotels Galaxy in Jabi, Abuja the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) couldn’t contain the multitude of Igbos (Ndigbo) who gathered there to seek God’s face on Saturday.

A faction of Ohaneze Ndigbo in Abuja under the presidency of Barr Ifeanyichukwu Obasi-Nweze (Mmuo) has last Saturday organized prayers for people from the ethnic group to seek God’s face toward promoting peaceful coexistence between themselves and other tribes last Saturday.

Although he hailed them for diligence, but Obasi – Nweze urged them to be involving God in everything, as well as keeping the law and maintaining peaceful coexistence with themselves and other tribes, which if strictly adhered to, according to him will promote Nigeria’s unity, and make the sky their limit.

While advising them to steer clear of unnecessary disputes, arising from struggle for positions of overall Igbo King (Eze Ndigbo) outside Igboland, which according to him is neither traditional, nor customary in Igboland, Nze Ifeanyichukwu Obasi-Nweze however told them that Ohaneze has been warning against the title of Eze Ndigbo outside Igboland. Alleging that those involved in the system has been using it to defraud Ndigbo, with the belief by Ndigbo that those with the titles are really Eze Ndigbo, he said due to the quarrels and factions associated with the system, those who claim to be Eze Ndigbo, according to him couldn’t call Ndigbo together, as is obtainable in Igbo land, where Ezes stop at community levels.

On how members of Ohaneze Ndigbo Worldwide have gone against their law, he alleged that the members of the Igbo socio cultural organisation gave the position of president general to their respected and illustrious son, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu without following the due process. He added that at the death of their president general, Prof Obiozor, the laid down procedures should have been followed to produce another one, even as he added that, as far as he is concerned, the position is still in abeyance.

On the release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, whose unconditional release he said he has been calling for, Mmuo said that his release should be unconditional, adding that it could only be done through Mr President’s political will. He however called that all hands of stakeholders in the project of his release be on deck to ensure that it is achieved.

Similarly, the woman leader, Gladys Chinyere Okoro said that to an extent, she was in support of Muo, stating that the problems associated with chieftaincy titles in the FCT among Ndigbo causes more harm than good. Advising the Ndigbo to be steadfast in the organisation, he said the beauty of it all is that members, especially women will soon be empowered, saying: “If you empower or train a women, you have done that for a nation.”

It would be recalled that over the time, Ndieze in the Diaspora have never taken any move against their recognition with seriousness, by saying whoever is moving against their recognition is on his own.

Recalled that in appreciation of all he has been doing, the president, Obasi – Nweze was honoured with an award by a paramilitary organisation, the United Nigeria Chaplaincy (UNC), shortly after the event.
