A journalist with Liberty Television/Radio, has been found dead in Abuja, five days after he was declared missing by his colleagues and family.

Joel Waksi, who was an On-Air Personality (OAP) in the media outfit, was said to have left the office around 9 p.

m. on Friday, and was expected to return to work by 2 p.m. the following day at the Mpape office of the station.

His absence led to growing concerns and an eventual search.

The Group General Manager of Atar Communication – owners of Liberty TV/Radio, Balarabe Muhammad, confirmed the tragic incident.

According to Muhammad, the Mpape division police located Waksi’s body near the Panteka area and subsequently transported it to the Kubwa General Hospital morgue.

Muhammad revealed that Waksi had been stabbed in the neck, and his phone was missing, suggesting he may have been attacked by phone snatchers.

He said, “It was suspected that he was attacked by the phone snatchers,” adding that two months back, he survived a similar attack, where he was stabbed below his abdomen, but he was treated.

“He was supposed to be on break till Monday, having worked at night; however, due to internal arrangements among colleagues during such public holidays, he was billed to report back to duty the next day afternoon, but he never did.’’
