The report, entitled “EFCC Releases Full List of 58 Ex-Governors that Embezzled N2.187 Trillion,” was denounced by the EFCC as false and mischievous.

The Commission emphasized that it had not authorized the publication of any such list and asserted that the purported document was a fabrication aimed at undisclosed motives.

Dele Oyewale, Head of Media & Publicity at the EFCC, underscored the importance of disregarding the circulating report, labeling it as both false and misleading.

Oyewale urged the media to exercise diligence in verifying information related to ongoing investigations with the Commission to prevent the dissemination of inaccurate and deceptive reports to the public.

The EFCC’s swift response aims to clarify the misinformation and maintain transparency in its operations amidst public scrutiny stressing that as investigations into corruption allegations continue, the Commission remains steadfast in its commitment to upholding the rule of law and ensuring accountability at all levels of governance.
