Socio-cultural groups under the aegis of Ethnic Youth Leaders have
urged the Senate to ignore detractors and clear the ministerial nominee from Ondo State, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji Ojo, who is currently enmeshed in a scandal surrounding his National Youth Service Corps, NYSC scheme certificate.

The groups, comprising of Ohanaeze Youth Movement, South-South Apex Youth Movement and Arewa Consultative Youth Movement, in a statement issued on Thursday, said the ministerial nominee, who is a serving House of Representatives member representing Akoko North East/Akoko North West Federal Constituency of Ondo State, is eminently qualified and competent for the appointment.

The statement jointly signed by their leaders, Odoemena Alexander, Patrick Obieri, and Ojukwu Celestine, expressed confident that Tunji-Ojo would bring his experience to bear in the discharge of his national assignment

According to the groups, the nominee is qualified and competent for the ministerial appointment, and complied fully to the NYSC Act, adding that he possesses what is required to make Nigeria proud in his new national assignment.

“The scandal surrounding Tunji-Ojo National Youth Service Corps, NYSC certificate is nothing more than mere cooked up allegations by detractors. We all witnessed what Ojo who represents Akoko North East/North West Federal Constituency, achieved as a member of the House of Representatives.

“As a lawmaker, he succeeded in bringing the long desired dividends of democracy to his constituents. His Akoko constituency was transformed and has continued to witness a great deal of economic growth and development all because of the infrastructural development which he facilitated in the federal constituency.

“We urge the Senate to ignore detractors and clear this admirable, promising young man. We are confident that he will bring his experience to bear in the discharge of his national assignment,” they stated.
