Mining activities in Nasarawa bill passes first reading, as house screens and confirm NASIEC member

Nasarawa State House of Assembly Tuesday passed into first reading ” A BIll for a Law to Provide for the Regulation and Control of Issuance of Land Consent and Community Agreement for Mining Entities by Mining Communities and Other Matters Related Thereto.

Sponsor of the bill, Hon. Daniel Ogah Ogazi APC Kokona East said the bill when passed into law would regulate and reduce activities of illegal miners in Nasarawa state.

According to the lawmaker, illegal mining activities was fast posing a security threat to the host communities as well as the entire state.

Ogazi stated that apart of reducing the security threat, the bill will address the many challenges the state is facing on mining issues

Speaker of the House , RT Honourable Danladi Jatau slated the 12th of August, 2024 for second reading of the bill.

in a similar development, the house screened and confirmed Muktar Angbashim Mamman from Nassarawa Eggon Local Government as member of Nasarawa State Independent Electoral Commission (NASIEC)

Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Danladi Jatau announced this when the nominee appeared for screening during the House preliminary in Lafia

It would be recalled that the screening and confirmation of the nominee was step down last week due to some unforeseen circumstances.

“By this, the committee has given us express permission to screen and confirm the nominee and this Honourable House has screened and confirmed Muktar Angbashim Mamman as member of NASIEC,” he said.

The Speaker directed the Clerk of the House, Ibrahim Musa to communicate the resolution of the House to Governor Abdullahi Sule for his necessary action.
