MFA Expresses Support for Diplomatic Games Week 2024

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced its support for the Diplomatic Games Week by the Organizers of TTRC – The Trade Relations Cup™️ by Diplomacy Publishing & Events .

In a response letter, the Ministry declared its support for the recreational engagement planned for the diplomatic community in Nigeria Sòókò Deji Ajomale-McWord, CEO of Diplomacy Publishing & Events revealed.

Organized under the theme ‘Negotiating World Peace & Prosperity Through Sports Diplomacy’, the event which is scheduled for 8th-10th of November, 2024, in Abuja, started as Diplomacy Stableford Golf Tournament in 2019, in Ikoyi Club 1938, but was moved to IBB International Golf & Country Club, in the diplomatic beehive city of Abuja in 2022 where it was received with all zest, by the golfing diplomatic community.

In 2024, the organizers decided it was time to up things a bit and make it more inclusive, as not everyone fancies golf. This led to the conceptualization of The Diplomatic Games Week.

This year, the organizers have expanded the scope of the event, introducing new activities to appeal to a broader audience. In addition to golf, the Diplomatic Games Week will feature tennis, chess, esports, soccer, and polo, providing more inclusive participation opportunities for diplomats and their families.

“We are thrilled and deeply appreciative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ support. After five years of creating recreational avenues for the diplomatic community, their recognition is a milestone for us,” said Sòókò Deji. “Our goal has always been to honor the tireless efforts of diplomats who maintain global peace and prosperity, and we are proud to use this platform to celebrate them.”

Registration for the event is open to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, its affiliated agencies, embassies, and international organizations with diplomatic status. Interested participants can register via www.dpeevents.africa.

Further details about the venues and additional activities will be disclosed in the coming weeks.
According to Sòókò Deji, the activities of the week will now include golf, tennis, chess, e-sports, soccer and polo.

Entries are open to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and agencies under it, embassies and international organizations with diplomatic mission status. Registration will be done via www.dpeevents.africa.
