Police authorities in Edo State have arrested Salami Anedu, a 21-year-old man, for allegedly murdering his wife, Esther Friday, following a dispute over food. The incident occurred in their home at Ugbekpe Community.

The arrest took place on August 30, after a report from Aluaye Momoh on August 29, who claimed that Salami Anedu used a stick to fatally injure his wife.

The command’s spokesperson, Superintendent Chidi Nwabuzor, announced that the case had been transferred to the homicide section of the state criminal investigation department in Benin for further investigation.

In an interview, the suspect defended himself, explaining that he had a disagreement with his wife when she refused to share the food she had cooked.

He recounted that he prepared his own meal, which led to an argument.
Later, his wife returned with her brothers, armed with sticks, and a fight ensued. Despite denying involvement in her death, Anedu was arrested as the Police deposited the victim’s body at Fugar General Hospital mortuary.
