Lateness to work :NSHA Speaker threatens to sanction workers, lock out staff in Lafia

Nasarawa State House of Assembly Speaker, RT Hon. Danladi Jatau has warned workers in the state to desist from coming late to work or risked being sanction.

This is even as the staff of the state House of Assembly were on Wednesday prevented entrance into the assembly complex for coming late to work in the state.

Addressing Journalists after going round offices, the RT Hon.

Speaker hammered on punctuality stating that time for resumption of workin Nasarawa is pegged between the hours of 8am to 4pm.

The speaker who took the workers unaware by coming to the Assembly complex at exactly 8 30am made it clear that his administration would not condone act of lateness, truancy ineptitude and insubordination on the part of the workers.

The Speaker said the measure is for optimal productivity, bring sanity amongst the workforce and for the overall development of the State.

The Speaker while lamenting the poor attendance declared that the 7th assembly under his watch would not allow any staff to sabotage the working of the legislative institution expressing the hope that the routine check may form part of the assembly oversight function to strengthen the state working mechanism for optimum productivity.

According to him, any organization that is not discipline, that organization will not move forward, so staff must discipline themselves or we discipline them.

” His Excellency is doing well and doing his best in improving on the welfare of workers. And the assembly under my watch will continue to prioritize the welfare of staff of the House but I will not condone indiscipline”, Jatau declared.

” I have instructed the Staff Officer to discipline any staff that is not punctual and is not doing his duties as expected” He said.

He re-assured of his continued commitment to better the welfare of the staff of the assembly noting that they must be seen doing the needful.

Similarly, the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Danladi Jatau, has appealed to Governor Abdullahi Sule to urgently complete renovation work at the State House of Assembly Complex for conducive and effective legislative duties.

The Speaker made the appeal when he went round to ascertain condition of Honourable members offices and that of staff said that conducive environment is key to sound and robust legislature.

According to him, Hon members and staff are living in a situation that most of the facilities are not working and functioning well. From all what we have seen and from all indication, almost all offices we went to are not conducive for Honourable members and staff as expected.

” The facilities such as Air Conditioners among other things are not working and functioning well. Since 2012 when Honourable members entered this House 12 years ago, it has not been renovated completely. We appeal to His Excellency, Governor Abdullahi Sule to come to our aide by renovating this assembly complex for effective legislative duties” Jatau stated.

The speaker who however commended Governor. Sule for prioritizing the welfare of members and staff of the assembly. assured the governor of his leadership readiness to support him to succeed.
