In a bid to cushion the prevailing economic challenges facing residents, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has announced the implementation of a new work arrangement for civil servants.

During a live media chat titled ‘Sanwo Speaks,’ the governor revealed that civil servants from level 1 to 14 will now operate under a hybrid work model, reporting to their offices three days a week.

Under this new arrangement, employees will work from their respective offices for three days and remotely for the remaining two days.

For civil servants on level 15 to 17, the in-office attendance will be increased to four days a week.

Governor Sanwo-Olu emphasized that the adjustments aim to mitigate the economic hardship faced by Lagosians without compromising essential government services. He assured residents that government operations would not be completely shut down but rather organized through a calendared and scheduled approach.

Furthermore, the governor underscored the importance of supporting workers in the teaching sector, who will continue with their regular five-day work schedule. To ease their commuting burden, the government will provide additional transport support for educators.

The introduction of the hybrid work model represents a proactive step by the Lagos State government to adapt to changing circumstances and alleviate the strain on civil servants amid economic challenges. This move is expected to enhance productivity while promoting a balanced approach to work-life integration for government employees.
